HISTORY OF THE WORLD MUSIC AWARD "CRYSTAL NOTE"
The first Crystal Note World Youth Music Award Competition was held from August 24 to September 3, 1997 in the Kremlin Palace. 32 young musicians from 13 countries competed for the top awards of the competition in the nominations of “vocal mastery”, “piano”, “saxophone”, including: Australia, Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, Bulgaria, Hungary, Georgia, Israel, Malta, Russia, the USA, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Finland.
The prize fund of the Crystal Note-97 was $100,000, but unlike other international competitions, its winners were awarded scholarships (grants). The Crystal Note scholarship holders had the right to spend them only on paying for professional education or purchasing musical instruments, recording phonograms, filming music videos, or purchasing costumes.
The scholarship (grant) principle of awarding the winners of the Crystal Note Competition allows its organizers to implement the main goal of the project – finding and providing assistance in obtaining professional education and creative improvement to young talents from different countries of the world.
The emergence of this unique project was treated with great respect and attention by cultural figures and the international community. For the first time in the history of such competitions, the organizers received official greetings from US President Bill Clinton and Russian President Boris Yeltsin. An official delegation from the State of Florida, headed by Secretary of State Sandra Mortham, arrived in Moscow to participate in the Opening Ceremony.
